Diocese of Mysore
Mission Statement
Rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, and inspired by the witness of our patron Saint Joseph, the Diocese of Mysore is a pilgrim Church on mission.
Our Mission
The Diocese of Mysore exists:
- To proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ to the people of Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu;
- To celebrate the Sacraments, in particular the Eucharist, as the source and summit of Christian life;
- To form clergy and laity in holiness, doctrine and pastoral charity;
- To educate youth through Catholic schools and colleges, that they may grow in faith, knowledge and integral human development;
- To care for the sick and suffering through the diocese’s healthcare and social ministries;
- To walk with the poor and the marginalised, defending the dignity of every human person from conception to natural death;
- To foster ecumenical and interreligious dialogue in our multi-faith land.
Our Vision
A diocese that is missionary, pastoral, synodal and Eucharistic — a Church that goes out to the peripheries, that listens before it speaks, that serves before it seeks to be served, and that bears witness to the Risen Lord through a life of charity, justice and joy.
